Town of Carmel NY Reassessment Project Information Page.

1/19/2016 the reassessment project continues in the Town of Carmel. Currently Vision government Solutions staff is working on the data collection phase of the project visiting all properties in the town. Updates will be posted to this page as they become available.

8/2/2016 Data Mailers have been sent to all residential improved properties. The data mailers contained property inventory that was collected by our vendor, Vision Government Solutions, during the data collection phase of the project. The data mailers were provided to the property owners so they could verify the accuracy of the data that was collected and make corrections if necessary.

Valuation work has started on all properties. The new preliminary market / assessed values with an estimate of tax change are expected to be mailed to all property owners at the end of February 2017.

Town of Carmel Reassessment Project Schedule of Important Dates.

February 28, 2017 all preliminary 2017 assessment disclosure notices were mailed out to the public.

March 8, 2017 to April 8, 2017 Vision Government Solutions our vendor for the project will be holding scheduled informal meetings with property owners in meeting room #2 to discuss their property inventory and market value.

April 28, 2017 all decisions from informal meetings and assessor made changes whether increases or decreases will be mailed out.

May 1, 2017 the tentative 2017 assessment roll is filed which is the starting period for filing applications with the Board of Assessment Review. The assessor and staff will also be available during this time to meet with the public and discuss their market values.

The Board of Assessment Review meeting will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2017 starting at 6:00 pm. At the discretion of the Board of Assessment Review additional meetings may be scheduled.

June 30, 2017 all decisions of the Board of Assessment Review will be mailed.

July 1, 2017 the Final Assessment Roll is filed.

July 1, 2017 to July 31, 2017 is the period for filing Small Claims and Certiorari cases with the Putnam County Clerk.
