SENIOR CITIZEN DROP-IN MEETINGS

Starting January 2024 The Senior Citizens will be meeting temporarily at Putnam Golf Course on Hill Street in Mahopac until further notice.

Meetings are usually held every Wednesday from 10am - 2pm from September through June at The Mahopac Fire House on Rt. 6 in Mahopac.  The Drop-In is open to all senior citizens (60 years and older) in the Town of Carmel (Carmel, Mahopac, Mahopac Falls).  The meetings consist of arts and crafts, bingo, general socializing with occasional guest speakers.  The group also has an annual picnic, outings and trips throughout the year.  For more information, contact Tina Capizola, Senior Citizen Director, at (845) 628-7888.

DAY TRIP REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Registration for Town trips are taken at the weekly Drop-In Meetings.  A schedule of the trips, picnics, registration dates and other important information is given out only at the weekly meetings.  All trips depart and return from the Mahopac Fire Department on Route 6 in Mahopac.  Trips are for Senior Citizens who are current residents of Carmel/Mahopac.  There is a $10 per person additional fee for non-residents.  If you have any questions regarding day trips, please contact Carmela Spano, Senior Citizen Coordinator at Carmel Recreation (845) 628-7888.

The Putnam County Office of the Aging is the major planner, coordinator and direct service provider for residents over 60 years of age.

Two Friendship Centers in the Town of Carmel offer numerous activities and a delicious hot meal every day:
